I saw my surgeon today, and he answered my questions satisfactorily:
He has done at least 1,000 of these surgeries.
I’m healed well enough from my previous surgery.
There is very little concern for a hernia after the fact.
Having a blood type test is standard procedure with laparoscopic surgery, not an indication that I will need a blood transfusion.
The only things I’m not thrilled with is that he suggested a week off work. I mean, I like that idea, but I’m so busy! And he will need to make 3, maybe 4 incisions in the untouched areas of my stomach. I mean, seriously. I’m gonna look like my body was used for stitching practice. Oh, well.
I am thankful the downsides are minimal compared to the upsides. And I’ll finally move on to just maintenance meds and regular checkups. Woohoo!
