I’m thankful for a strong drink this evening, for warmer weather even though it was rainy, and popcorn. Oh, and Girl Scout thin mint cookies. Dang it.

As usual, another long day at work, but I stopped and had a glass of wine with a friend afterwards. And then took a walk around the block with Patrick before collapsing on the sofa. Chance was really snuggly, too. Even though I should have been doing some errands, I’m thankful for just relaxing. I’m also thankful I got Spring decor out last week because the grouping on our coffee table adds to the calm atmosphere.

I’m especially thankful for my friend Ann, whose birthday is today.

I’ve been frustrated with my hair lately. It’s getting kind of long (4”!) but it seems short on top and long in the back. It’s also flat in front and mostly curly in the back. And it’s a lot thinner than it used to be.

I feel like I have Miley Cyrus’s mullet.

I can’t wait to have my longer hair again. Because I know I’m impatient, I reminded myself today of what I looked like one year ago.

A little perspective is a big thing. I’m thankful for my mullet. And I’m thankful I’ve gotten my color back to something like it used to be. (Yay, hair dye!) I may not look like I did pre-cancer, but I’m getting closer and closer to normal.

I’m thankful tonight for a night out with friends, celebrating a birthday at a nice restaurant. It’s been almost 2 years since we were out at a restaurant together. It takes effort to keep friendships alive when you’re busy adulting, so I’m grateful for our friendship.

I’m thankful today for a bit of sunshine in an otherwise dreary week. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’m also thankful for the bit of exercising I’ve been trying to do. I feel slightly stronger. Maybe it’s helping me sleep too since I haven’t been waking up all the time. That’s been a nice change.

Since my last visit with my plastic surgeon, I’ve been so uncomfortable, especially at night. The pressure makes my ribs ache. Over the weekend, I was awake every hour all night long trying to find a comfortable position. But last night, I slept most of the night and woke up feeling less sore. I made it through most of the day before I started aching again. I’m thankful for that.
I’m also thankful for my friend who has a birthday today. She’s the coolest. And sweetest. And coolest. Did I say that already?
