I was having trouble sleeping last night because I was getting pushed out of bed. Good thing I found the culprit, and he’s easy to move. Since I didn’t sleep well, I was hoping to sleep in, but that didn’t happen either. Since I was up early, Patrick and I got some cleaning done and then rewarded ourselves with brunch outdoors at a lovely restaurant.

Afterwards, we stopped by an antique shop, and then spent the afternoon gardening (Patrick) and finishing up laundry/errands (me).

I also got rid of the final pieces of steristips over my stomach incisions. They were coming off and collecting dirt. I’m happy to say the incisions are small and pretty much healed, although they are still swollen, with raised bumps. But I have hope that everything will even out eventually. I’m thankful for that and a productive day.

We spent the morning at a garden sale at our local arboretum. In the rain. I found a couple things but Patrick didn’t because his garden is pretty much fully planted, and he doesn’t care about the extra stuff, like I do. On our way home, we passed by an oddities store I’d never seen before, so of course, we stopped. I found another hand trinket dish to add to my collection. Yay!

I also read up on our new appliances and we broke them all in today. We discovered the dryer wasn’t vented correctly, so that required a trip to the hardware store and some cussing. Patrick got it repaired well enough to finish laundry but it will probably need a complete redo at some future point. Much like our kitchen plumbing. When I went to put away everything under the sink after the dishwasher install, there was a puddle of water. I removed the trap to make sure it wasn’t just plugged up and the water from the tap kept running, even with nothing turned on. There will be a plumber visit in our very near future. Ugh. It’s always something.

On the upside, the rain let up, the night was cool, the new appliances work well, and tomorrow is Sunday. I’m grateful for that.

Our dishwasher died. Well, it was dying so we started searching for a new one a while back. Over the Memorial Day weekend sales, we found a great deal on appliances, so we bought one. And also a washer and dryer because I’ve been wanting something that can handle our comforter. With the promotion, we saved enough that it was almost like getting the dishwasher for free. At least that’s how I convinced Patrick. Ha.

Today everything was delivered and the washer dryer was installed. Tomorrow the dishwasher gets installed. I never thought I’d get so excited for cleaning appliances but here I am, looking forward to doing laundry this weekend. And I am grateful we got a good deal. I’m also grateful that Patrick painted the laundry area before the new ones came. It’s going to look really nice once it’s all put back together.

My new people started at work today…yay! Although I feel bad because I was stuck in a training session myself for 4 hours this morning. They were troopers though and said they’d be back tomorrow. Double yay!

I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon who says my incisions are healing well, and Eve from my surgery went well. No deep stitches and I only have another week of no heavy weights and no hot tub. He didn’t remove the steri-strips like I had hoped, though. I’m to remove them in a week if they don’t fall off before then. It feels like leaving dirty pieces of tape on myself, but I guess that’s ok if my doctor says so. He also gave me photos of my ovaries as well as a dvd of the entire surgery. He mentioned before the surgery that things were recorded and he could get me photos of my insides, but I didn’t think he actually would. Crazy! Everything was smaller than I imagined.

I’m thankful for an ok day back to work and a good visit with the doctor.

It was a dreary, rainy day, which was good for working on my dolls. I think I got a good start…

I still need to add color and texture but I’m happy with the progress so far. I’m thankful to have gotten stuff done. And that the rain stopped. And tomorrow I don’t have to work.

I’m thankful for this guy, whose birthday is today. He loves to ham it up for the camera. 🙄

He never likes to celebrate his birthday but agreed that going to Fogo de Chao for dinner sounded good. The problem is that the restaurant is an hour away, so going for dinner would be hard since it would interfere with feeding the dogs. Therefore, we decided to go for a late lunch instead, and knowing it would be a lot of food, we skipped breakfast. It was worth it. The constant stream of meats is good, but I could have ate only food from the salad bar and been perfectly happy. Mmmm.

We spent a little time prior at an outlet mall nearby, then had lunch at 2:30, and made it back home for the pups. And while we were gone, a couple of raised garden beds Patrick ordered were delivered, so it was a good day for him. And a fun day for me, too.
