It snowed today. And as much as I thought I was ready for a cool down, I was not ready for snow. It wasn’t a lot, although we are supposed to get more. Maybe tomorrow I’ll try wearing socks.

I’m thankful for dinner out with Patrick, booking a massage (which is way overdue!), encouragement from colleagues, and sliding into the weekend (hopefully not on the snow).

Today I survived my first colonoscopy. Man that prep is no joke. It was a long day yesterday on a liquid diet and a long, interrupted night. But I got through.

Although they sedate you during the procedure, I swear I was awake the entire time. I kind of remember taking gibberish while I was watching the screens. Crazy. Then I was exhausted and fell asleep almost as soon as we got home.

They didn’t find anything worrisome, only one small polyp that will get sent off to a lab. Since I recently had a pet scan, I’m not worried about it. I’m grateful it went well and I don’t have to worry about it again for a long while.

I’m thankful today for getting stuff done that I ignored yesterday—laundry, vacuuming, cleaning up my closet. I also got a little caught up on work emails from last week. I’m going to be off work tomorrow, so I don’t feel too bad about working a few hours today.

It was cold today. I ran a few errands and did very little else. I’ll probably regret that tomorrow. I am thankful for a new cashmere sweater, though. It’s actually a zip up hoodie in a lovely moss green, and it kept me warm all day. I’m still getting hot flashes, and I’ve discovered that cashmere doesn’t overheat me like other stuff. Yay!

I’m thankful for Emma, whose birthday is today. I can’t believe she is 27 today. I’m not old enough for that! I’m super proud of her and happy she’s happy. What more can a mom ask for?

I’m also thankful for Friday. What a week. I don’t even mind that I’m the only one awake right now.

I’m grateful for a busy day and for getting to know some colleagues a little better. I’m also thankful for some after work fun. I can officially say that I experienced Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Off season and still pretty crowded.
Work colleagues with their big beers.
I had the small beer.

Although my feet hurt, I’m thankful for walking everywhere I needed to go today. I’m thankful I made it through day one of the work show I went to, and got a chance to meet in person a lot of folks I work with regularly. I’m also thankful for some down time in the evening to chill and have a nice dinner.

Traveling is always so exhausting. Even if the flight is short, it seems to take all day to get anywhere. I’m on my work trip, and I’m trying not to be grumpy about it. It’s really the first time I wasn’t looking forward to going somewhere I hadn’t been before: New Orleans. Weird. I’m here for a trade show, and part of my hesitation is that I don’t feel prepared. I’ve been too busy to prepare for it. I’m also sharing a booth with folks I haven’t met in person before, although we do business together. It feels awkward. And I ended up at a hotel next to Bourbon Street, which is loud. I truly did not plan well. But I’m here, and I ate beignets for lunch, which were delicious. And I’ve walked a lot, so I don’t feel bad about eating them or the shrimp and grits I had for dinner.

I am thankful for safe travels, a good book, and a noisy air conditioner that blocks out street noise.
