I’m thankful for a busy day and for a bit of exercising after work.

We got a warm up today which made it feel like spring. In our location, 37 F was a huge change. Families were out in our neighborhood, with kids on bikes even. Patrick took the pups out for a quick walk and then he and I went around the block, too. I’m thankful for the brief look ahead.

A few things I’m thankful for today…

I had my visit with a gynecologist to discuss removing my ovaries. That way I can stop the shots required to shut them down. She sees no reason not to have the surgery. However, because I am looking at potentially having flap reconstruction which would require using stomach skin, she suggested discussing it with my doctor next week. They may be able to do the ovary removal at the same time and save me a surgery. That would be excellent, so I’m thankful for the positive news. I also talked with a couple women today who had the same reconstructive surgery at the clinic I’ll be going to, and they both were thrilled with their results. I’m grateful for their input and for more positive news. I’m looking forward to my appointment next week!
After a busy day, I’m thankful for dinner out with friends we haven’t seen in a while. It was a fun (and rare) double date! We talked about ridiculous work stories, tv shows, more ridiculous work stuff, pets, students, social media and crazy work stuff. Oh! And how much I love Fridays and hate Mondays.

I’ve been feeling anxious lately. I’m sure the winter doldrums isn’t helping, but I’m also sure that my upcoming doctor’s appointments are part of it. This month feels like it will be pivotal, and I’m worried about getting bad news. This week I’ll meet with a new doctor about getting my ovaries removed, next week I’ll meet with a new doctor about my reconstruction, and the following week I’ll have an MRI to check that I’m still cancer free. It feels like finals week, and I haven’t been studying.
So I’m feeling like this self-portrait I drew, a little off-kilter. But I know it’s temporary and hopefully as silly as the drawing makes me look. I’ll get through my appointments and figure out the next steps and carry on. I’m thankful for that.
I’m thankful today for a late birthday/Christmas celebration with a couple of friends. It was a night of relaxing and catching up.

Is it still Monday? Such a long day. I’m thankful for a little ice cream, wine, and sofa time with these two.

Well, our several days of snow left us with about 6-7 inches. It was tempting to hibernate again today since it is also colder than it has been. But Patrick and I sucked it up and went out and ran some errands. I still managed to do a little sewing and reading and painting my nails, though. It was a good day.
