Today is Memorial Day in the US, when we remember those soldiers who lost their lives while serving. It’s a national holiday, so many of us had the day off work. Like most folks, we grilled out today and just hung out at home.
I didn’t realize it in time, but in 2000 Congress passed the National Moment of Remembrance that calls for all Americans to pause for one minute at 3:00 pm to remember those who have died. Apparently, Major League Baseball games will halt and Amtrack trains will sound their whistles at this time too. I’ll try to remember this next year.
I’m thankful I don’t have any close family members who have died in the military, but I’m also grateful for those who have served this country.
